What Are Weight Problems?
Here in the United States, we define a healthy weight through the Body Mass Index, or BMI. This basic tool gives people an idea of a healthy weight based on their weight and height, and also where they are comparatively to others based on expected averages. The problem with this system is it doesn’t take into account health conditions that affect weight gain or other factors. It’s strictly height and weight, and doesn’t evaluate you as a whole person. However, weighing too much can cause a lot of health risks and problems including joint concerns and an increased risk of heart disease. If you find that no matter how hard you try to lose weight, that it’s simply sticking, something else could be causing you to retain this weight, including thyroid problems.
